On Friday, December 13, 2024, Kasapreko PLC hosted its second STEM for Her outreach program at St. Mary’s Senior High School (SHS) – Korle Bu. Building on the success of its inaugural session, the initiative aims to inspire female students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by showcasing real-world applications and creating connections with industry role models.
The event began with an experiential session led by female representatives from departments like Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. They guided students through the production process, covering ingredient blending, machine maintenance, label design, and the key role of mathematics in supporting machine and production processes. Alongside the booths, a dedicated Guidance Table allowed students to ask questions, seek advice, and discuss potential career paths.
The Technical Director for Kasapreko PLC, Mr. Sylvester Ogesi, delivered a compelling message in his keynote address about the importance of STEM. Drawing inspiration from Marie Curie, the “Mother of radioactivity and modern physics,” he encouraged the students to embrace curiosity, resilience, and hard work as keys to success in STEM fields. He further added that women are known for a high level of diligence that is required within the Science and Engineering professions and that the industry is more than ready for participation of women in the technical workplace.
The session also featured personal stories from female professionals within Kasapreko PLC. Female engineers shared their journeys of perseverance and growth, motivating students to take on challenges and dream big. The R&D Manager further inspired the audience by sharing how her love for science fueled her path to success.
To further demonstrate Kasapreko PLC’s dedication to empowering young women, the STEM for Her initiative proudly announced scholarships for outstanding students, paving the way for them to thrive in STEM education. This initiative highlights the importance of bridging academic learning with real-world industry experience, offering students invaluable opportunities to connect with professionals at Kasapreko.
The event culminated in an engaging Q&A session, where students eagerly interacted and won exciting prizes. Many shared their enthusiasm about the future, using this platform to connect with Kasapreko professionals for mentorship and guidance. Through this program, Kasapreko underscores the critical role of female representation in industries like science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, and how essential it is for women to play a key role in shaping the future of our field.
