Kasapreko PLC Inspires Future Female STEM Leaders at Accra Girls SHS

On November 15, 2024, Kasapreko PLC held its inaugural STEM for Her outreach program at Accra Girls Senior High School, following its internal launch. The initiative aims to inspire female students to pursue careers in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) by showcasing the vast opportunities these fields offer in the professional setting.

The program featured interactive sessions divided into three sections: science, technology, and engineering/mathematics. Female employees from Kasapreko shared their expertise in hands-on demonstrations: At the Science Booth, quality assurance professionals showcased how ingredients are blended to create Kasapreko’s signature beverages. The Technology Booth highlighted the role of technology in machine maintenance and label design, led by a female IT professional. The Engineering/Mathematics Booth focused on how mathematics supports machine operations and production processes, with insights shared by engineers and mathematicians.

The main had all science students from Accra Girls SHS converge in the assembly hall and commenced with an opening led by Rev. Theophilus Agblordepey. Mr. Solomon Owusu Bonnah, Head of Human Resources, took over the podium briefly to stressed the importance of STEM education and announced scholarships for outstanding female students. He encouraged the students to embrace challenges and strive for excellence.

Following this session was keynote address by Dr. Ruhiya Abubakar, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering at Ghana Communication Technology University. Dr. Abubakar shared her inspiring journey as a woman in a male-dominated field, emphasizing resilience, determination, and hard work. She motivated the students to overcome barriers and pursue their dreams in STEM. A couple of female employees from Kasapreko PLC, along with students from Ghana Communication Technology University, also shared their experiences, offering relatable and motivational stories of how they excelled in STEM fields.

Kasapreko’s STEM for Her initiative reflects the company’s commitment to empowering young women. By providing scholarships and opportunities to connect with role models, the program aims to break gender barriers and inspire a new generation of women to succeed in STEM careers.
